MOMMYLOGUE: A RAW, REFRESHING TAKE ON PARENTHOOD BY MOM-OF-TWO ELLE DOUBLE U PEPPER

Online Diary Chronicles the Daily Adventures of Parenting Two Sweet and Spicy Kids

Revealing. Refreshing. Raw. Mommylogue.blog is the newest voice in parenting, an online diary where Lindsey Whiting-Schnepper under the nom de plume “Elle DoubleU-Pepper 🌶” writes about the hardest career a woman can have: mommying. With unusual candor, a razor-sharp wit and an abiding love for her little ones, “Elle” shares with readers her daily life raising two precious kids.

“It’s my inner dialogue (my mommy voice) unedited, unfiltered and undeniably relatable,” says Lindsey.  “It’s my real-life documentation of the coveted community called mommyhood. My scrapbook of stories.”

This just launched blog includes stories by Lindsey aka “Elle DoubleU- Pepper” about how her life sometimes resembles the 80s comedy Adventures in Babysitting, mommying in the time of Final Four and going crib-less for the first time in seven plus years.

“I remember when I first got this crib. My older lovie was still in my belly and I was on the cusp of this journey,” she writes. “By the time he turned 2-years-old, I was sure I was one and done. But a year later, with a pap smear and a pep talk from my OBGYN, I got knocked up again. It’s was actually classier than that but it’s a story for another time. By year three, we used that crib for the second little redhead in my life, and I have to admit it reminded me not only of my kids’ youth, but my own. Now, after seven plus years, my house is crib-less. Which has taken on a different meaning for me. No, I don’t want more babies -- I love my children beyond, but two sometimes feels like 10, even on the best days -- and I feel like I’ve entered a new stage. A new milestone in mommyhood.”

Lindsey Whiting-Schnepper is a New York area mother living with two little red heads and her ginger-hued husband. Over a decade ago, Lindsey began writing her daily thoughts in the notes section of her phone whenever she had a moment to spare, but just recently she decided to jump into social media pool. She worried less about getting her professional blow dry wet— exposing her natural curls and more about sharing these memories and milestones with the world— she writes like she is wearing her heart on her sleeve, which steadily built a growing audience. Now, with Mommylogue.blog, she is sharing her stories with a whole new audience.

“I think moms will appreciate my perspective because it’s real. I don’t sugarcoat the daily challenges we face raising children,” she says. “Every day is an adventure. Some days are better than others. Some days we feel like total failures others are epic. But each day belongs to us. This is my way of sharing those stories.”

Television Appearance The Donna Drake Show

I felt proud of myself and interestingly enough I was most proud of my platform and my purpose— being a mommy to two of the most unbelievably amazing little boys who gave me this audacious title.

Then after 365 days of sharing my heart with a community called Mommyhood— I had a moment like no other and a new song played this time. If I were to have a theme song it would be the lyrics found in the song above. My Cinderella story was unfolding during this year’s March Madness…

Life is a lot. It’s the moments that take your breath away that should leave you breathless. Sitting across from a fellow mother and ambitious woman on the set of her self made media empire on matching funky loveseats, just like my mom and the mom I strive to be I shared my story which could be your story.

Donna Drake told me that I was so authentic it compelled her to share a story from her everyday mom memory. It wasn’t her perfect moment, but I gave her the bravery to own it just like I do week to week.

So maybe the same wicked combination that created my boys : love, science and magic— is my recipe. It’s all the ingredients you need when creating something that never existed before.

Television Appearance The Donna Drake Show

Family is everything to me— especially my children.

I am excited and honored to share that I can now consider myself part of another inspiring family— The Donna Drake Show. I have been asked to be their Parenting Correspondent.

———————————————————————-

A few weeks ago after school at pick up my little one excitedly asked me “mommy, do you know the difference between fiction and non-fiction?”

By the way he inquired I wasn’t sure if he himself knew the answer or he wanted me to tell him the difference…

Because sometimes my Children’s explanations are more meaningful and thought provoking than mine. It’s in their genuine authenticity. Seeing the world through my boys lens has helped me many times change my perspective.

I paused for a moment and thought about our recent current events and felt heartbroken that lines between the two are almost blurred— how can what we are hearing and seeing and feeling be our reality let alone our childrens?

They say not every break (heart break) means something is broken but a time for a rebuild.

I believe we need to hang on tight to our todays even when yesterday wasn’t the best and hope for an even better tomorrow— it’s all in the blueprints.

Here’s a quote for all the mommies out there searching for an explanation for “the difference between fiction and non-fiction?”

Remember this quote : To my children: if I had to choose between loving you and breathing… I would use my last breath to tell you — I love you…

If you want to read more about my inner dialogue and the unedited, unfiltered sugar in the raw moments with my kids and my” mommylogue”— come read the pages of my diary at www.mommylogue.blog and follow me @elledoubleupepper on Instagram and Facebook

NEWSDAY— Faces of Long Island

Faces of Long Island celebrates the uniqueness of everyday Long Islanders. In their own words, they tell us about their life experiencesh, challenges and triumphs. Newsday launched this social media journey into the human experience to shine a light on the diverse people of this wonderful place we call home.

NEWSDAY— Faces of Long Island. “I’ve been writing my whole life and keeping a diary. Before I became a mommy, I wanted to make scrapbooks of my children, recording their milestones. After becoming a mommy, twice, I didn’t have time for the typical scrapbooks, but I needed a place to record the milestones, theirs and mine. That’s when I began to write the next chapters in my grown-up diary, recording the details of our day, no sugarcoating, maybe even a little spicy.”

“It’s cool to be flawed, it makes for a better story.”

“I created a weekly mommy blog called Mommylogue under the nom de plume Elle DoubleU— Pepper. It’s not a recipe book, not how to be a better parent, not a hack; it’s what happened each week with my children, my life. I’m the secret spice in my family’s sauce. My children are made from a wicked combination of love, science and magic, and they are my renaissance.

People say Mommylogue is the mommy version of ‘Gossip Girl’ meets Carrie Bradshaw… “

LINDSEY WHITING-SCHNEPPER

(nom de plume Elle DoubleU- Pepper 🌶)

@elledoubleupepper

I’m 5 feet nothing and a little bit of everything. I have a dual masters degree in early childhood education and special education and an advanced certification in educational administration and leadership.

I taught for the city of New York until I became a mommy. And while those professional achievements made me proud and successful— my greatest accomplishments are my children.

They are my rèsumè, letters of recognition, reflection, and my renaissance. I’m a sugar-in-the-raw mommy not a sweet-n-low mama.

I am an introverted extrovert. I have a fire-cracker sense of humor and a heart of gold. I have been writing and keeping a diary all my life. After I had my children and realized life got in the way of making beautiful scrapbooks— twice, it would be my diary that would record those milestones. Theirs and mine.

So www.mommylogue.blog began (#linkinbio). However it wasn’t until a year ago I decided to get my professional weekly blow-out wet and expose my natural curls and I jumped into the social media pool and wore my heart and spice on my sleeve.

I knew something or someone was missing in the neighborhood. There’s no shame in the honesty of all the emotions of being a mommy. I have the best material because it’s authentic. Unscripted. It’s the real life stories of my life and it might even sound like your life and your story— because Mommyhood is a community and we all speak it’s universal love language.

My Strength: I am sure someone else would tell you I have many strengths, but I just like I tell my boys— being strong is important but so is not being afraid of your tears and showing them…
